Alone you sit, night after night
A distant look, a vacant stare.
A flickering monitor shining bright
The only sign that you are there.
A million sites for you to see,
But none to occupy your mind.
A world of knowledge at your fingertips
But none of interest you can find.
Why are you here, why do you gaze,
At empty screens at dead of night.
Does life have no direction for you,
Is emptiness your only sight.
I pity you, sat all alone
Concocting ways to make your wealth.
And then I glimpse your lonely face
And see I'm looking at myself.
